About The Role The Financial Accountant will play an integral role within the Financial Services business unit, focusing on various financial accounting functions including compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, asset accounting, treasury management, and taxation. This position involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and the effective management of Council’s financial assets.
The successful candidate will oversee the investment portfolio, manage loans and leases, lead key asset accounting functions and financial reporting. This role also provides strategic advice on banking and treasury matters and requires strong analytical skills, a sound understanding of financial governance, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic working environment.
Who We Are Looking For

- Tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce, or a related discipline.
- CPA or CA accreditation (or nearing completion).
- Proven experience in financial accounting, asset accounting, treasury management, and taxation.
- Experience with enterprise financial systems and engaging with external stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Advanced proficiency in financial systems and analytical software.

- Interview date:Interviews will be facilitated within 2 weeks of closing date.
- Package:$103,552 - $115,975 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation. An attraction allowance may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
- Hours of work:Permanent Full Time Working 35 hours per week. You will have the option of a 19 day month with Council's ADO system (Accrued Day Off).

Suitable candidates are subject to pre-employment screening which includes Reference Checks, Work Rights Verification, Identity and Functional/Medical History Checks, and will also include a Criminal History, Qualification and Working with Children Check.
