Position Summary
The purpose of this role is to carry out technically skilled and qualified machining, maintenance, servicing and repairs of a range of plant and vehicles, equipment, and agricultural systems with a hydraulic focus. The role includes the design, repair and fabrication of parts, utilizing manual lathes, mills, and a range of welding.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out machining and fabrication repairs and maintenance to hydraulic systems, plant and equipment, utilizing manual lathes, mills, and a range of welding, including:
- Hydraulics pumps, motors, cylinders, hoses, valves.
- A range of machinery and equipment including cranes, trucks, excavators, PTO systems etc..
- Co-ordinate workflow to ensure completion of defined tasks on time and within the approved budget.
- Assist with developing and implementing strategies for the overall improvement of Taminda Hydraulics & Engineering’s maintenance, repair and replacement of plant and equipment.
- Keeping of appropriate worksheets, timesheets and general records.
- Liaise with Manager and Tradesmen to help with the planning and scheduling of jobs, ensuring secure, efficient and cost-effective measures and procedures are followed.
- Operate, maintain and securely store small plant and equipment.
- Report any loss or damage to plant, equipment or materials.
- Maintain customer service standards and organisational values.
- Follow procedures for acquiring relevant machinery parts, equipment, materials, uniforms and work specific items.
- Ensure safe work practices, including the development and implementation of safe work method statements, risk assessments,
and injury and incident reporting in line with WHS requirements.
- Conditions
- Employment contract is for permanent, full time work.
- Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 7:30am to 4:30pm, 15 minute morning break, and 1 hour meal break.
- Four (4) weeks annual leave per year.
- Superannuation paid in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Carry out work in a wide variety of environments – outdoors on worksites/indoors in the Workshop.
- Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience in machining and fabrication, with a high level of understanding of hydraulics and engineering maintenance and repairs with the ability to manage the technical aspects of the position.
- Demonstrated ability to plan work and think independently with a commonsense approach to problem solving to get results.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and interpret work programs, quotes, and invoices.
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills; including proven ability to manage competing priorities, monitor and report progress and complete set outcomes within tight deadlines.
- Completion of an apprenticeship (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent) with minimum 3 years relevant work-based experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the requirements of Work Health and Safety (WH&S;).
- Hold a current Class C Drivers Licence.
- Hold a current WorkCover NSW OHS Construction Induction Card.
- Be an Australian Resident or equivalent or holder of a visa allowing permanent employment in Australia.
Desirable:
- Hold a current first aid certificate.
- Previous NCC Licence for Forklift demonstrated competency and experience approved by a qualified Trainer or Assessor.
