MARS Recruitment is seeking four experienced Mental Health Registered Nurses for contract opportunities within an Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit in Alice Springs.

n

These contracts offer the opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive mental health care in one of Australia's most unique clinical environments.

- Location: Alice Springs, Northern Territory
n
- Pay rate: $85-$90 per hour
n
- 2 positions commencing 10 September 2026
n
- 2 positions commencing 21 September 2026
n
- Full-time rotating roster and shift work
n

About the role

n

As a Mental Health Registered Nurse, you will provide safe, responsive and person-centred care to adults experiencing acute mental health concerns.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care
n
- Coordinating care to support positive clinical outcomes
n
- Managing patients with complex and acute mental health needs
n
- Working within a high-dependency mental health environment
n
- Collaborating with medical, nursing and allied health professionals
n
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
n
- Providing culturally appropriate care to patients and their families
n
- Contributing to a physically, culturally and psychosocially secure environment
n
- Working in accordance with relevant legislation, clinical guidelines and professional standards
n
- Participating in shift work and supporting other clinical areas when required
n

n

To be considered, you will need:





n

n
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
n
- A minimum of 2-3 years' recent mental health inpatient experience
n
- Experience working within a Mental Health High Dependency Unit
n
- The ability to work confidently with minimal supervision
n
- Strong clinical assessment and care coordination skills
n
- Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
n
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
n
- An understanding of culturally safe healthcare practices
n
- Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement principles
n
- Availability to complete an 8-12 week contract
n

Compliance requirements

n

Successful applicants must hold or be willing to obtain:

n

n
- NT Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card
n
- Criminal History Check issued by a state or territory police service or the AFP and dated within six months of the contract. MARS can handle this for you if you don't have one currently.
n
- Evidence of compliance with Category A healthcare worker immunisation requirements
n
- A complete candidate and compliance pack before submission
n
