If you'd like to lead the team making their evolving lineup of beers, they’re looking to fill their head brewer position for 12 months while one of their brewers is on maternity leave.

12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Leave Cover) - Starting November 2026

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and capable Head Brewer to take ownership of our Newstead brewery operation. You will manage the brew team day-to-day and be accountable for the quality, consistency and efficiency of everything we produce, working closely with the Directors.

This is a full time, 12-month fixed-term contract covering a period of maternity leave, starting November 2026, reporting directly to the Directors. This role doesn't come up often, it is the right opportunity for someone with serious brewing experience who is ready to lead a team, own a process, and contribute to a brewery they are proud to work in.

What You Will Be Responsible For

1. Managing and leading the brew team day-to-day, including performance management and employee relations

2. Optimising staffing levels, shift configurations and brewing overtime

3. Overseeing the full brewing process from milling through to packaging

4. Assisting with the managing raw materials, stock ordering and production planning - controlling usage, increasing yield and reducing extract loss

5. Maintaining and improving product quality and flavour stability through QA/QCprocesses

6. Managing yeast handling in line with industry best practices - pitching, cropping and monitoring

7. Facilitating team problem solving and sound decision making across the brew team

Applying and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures across all production and packaging activities

9. Ensuring proper CIP procedures are followed and the brewery is kept clean, safe and organised

10. Assisting with Managing brewery maintenance, equipment troubleshooting and repair

11. Optimising utilities usage and managing brewery waste responsibly

12. Maintaining regular communication with the Head of Production on production schedulesand new releases

What We Are Looking For

- Minimum 7 years' brewing experience
- End-to-end knowledge of the brewing process - raw materials through to packaging
- Solid QA/QC experience and a focus on flavour stability
- An inquisitive mind, you'd rather prevent a problem than fix one
- Experience managing stock ordering and production planning
- A good understanding of the wider business - sales, marketing and customers
- Familiarity with brewery utilities and waste management
- Comfortable with SOPs, production scheduling and digital record-keeping
- Physically capable of the demands of the role, lifting to 30kg, heat, wet conditions, climbing and crawling
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Bonus if you've worked with Beer30 and a Codi machine
