The building In 1848 they built the Savings Bank of NSW out of Sydney sandstone, in the middle of what would become Martin Place. Nearly two centuries later it's The Pillars Club — a private members' club behind a door most of Sydney walks past without ever seeing the inside of.

You'd work in it every day.

The role

This is the floor. Real service, real pace, a reliable events calendar, and a room where the standard is set by who's in it. You run the door and the diary, you're across every cover in the building, and you're out there through service — setting up, running sections, resetting, closing the room down at the end of a big night.

What makes it different is that you know these people. Not as covers, as members. What they drink, who they bring, what they're celebrating. Sydney's private clubs run on that knowledge and there are only a handful of rooms in the city where you can learn it properly.

It's hands-on and it's demanding. You'll finish shifts on your feet. You'll also build a network in this city that most hospitality careers never get near.

What you'll do

- Work the floor through peak service — sections, runs, clearing, resets and turnarounds
- Set up and break down private dining, events and Club functions
- Support the bar through volume, including stock, pass and service flow




- Open and close front of house to standard, every shift
- Own arrivals, guest sign-ins, capacity and waitlists with discretion
- Run the reservations diary and table allocation across The Great Room and The Pavillion
- Brief floor, bar, kitchen and events on VIPs, dietaries, timing and occasions before every service
- Host prospective members on Club visits and hand off to the membership team
- Land new members through their first 90 days — introductions, first bookings, making the Club theirs
- Capture member preferences, guests and visitation in our CRM so the next visit is better than the last
- Flag members we haven't seen to the membership team ahead of renewal

What you'll bring

- 2+ years on the floor in premium hospitality — members' club, luxury hotel or fine dining
- Operational pace, and comfort being pulled onto the floor mid-sentence
- Composure at the door and under pressure
- A memory for names, faces and detail, and absolute discretion
- Confidence with reservations and CRM systems, and the discipline to record what you learn
- Availability across evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Current NSW RSA
