About the role

Harrietville Hotel Motel is seeking an experienced and motivated Hotel / Motel Manager – Accommodation Operations to oversee and coordinate the day-to-day accommodation operations of our property in Harrietville, Victoria.

Located in Victoria’s Alpine region, this is a hands-on management position responsible for ensuring productive hotel operations, maintaining high standards of guest service and accommodation presentation, managing staff and supporting the commercial performance of the property.

The successful candidate will work closely with other departments and management to ensure a consistent and positive guest experience across the hotel.

Key responsibilities

● Oversee the day-to-day accommodation operations of the hotel and motel.

● Manage reservations, reception operations, guest check-ins, check-outs and room allocations.

● Oversee housekeeping operations and ensure rooms and accommodation areas consistently meet required cleanliness and presentation standards.

● Recruit, train, roster, supervise and support accommodation and housekeeping staff.

● Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing training and operational guidance.

● Manage the property management system and ensure reservation, guest and room information is accurate and up to date.

● Monitor room availability, occupancy, accommodation rates and revenue performance.

● Assist with accommodation pricing and revenue management decisions based on occupancy, demand and market conditions.

● Manage guest payments, outstanding balances, credits and accommodation-related financial records.





● Respond to guest enquiries and requests and manage complaints or service issues in a qualified and timely manner.

● Monitor guest satisfaction and implement improvements to the guest experience where required.

● Coordinate maintenance requirements, repairs and room-related issues with the appropriate staff or contractors.

● Manage purchasing and stock requirements relating to accommodation, housekeeping and guest amenities.

● Coordinate with food and beverage, administration, maintenance and other hotel departments to ensure smooth overall operations.

● Develop, review and maintain operational procedures, checklists and service standards.

● Support the implementation of operational improvements and systems designed to increase efficiency and service quality.

● Assist with online booking channels and ensure accommodation information, availability and property content remain accurate.

● Maintain appropriate operational and financial records relating to the accommodation department.

● Ensure hotel operations comply with relevant workplace health and safety requirements and company policies.

● Support management with the ongoing operational and commercial performance of the property.

About you The successful candidate will ideally have:

● Relevant experience in hotel, motel, resort or accommodation management.





● At least one year of relevant management or supervisory experience within the hospitality or accommodation industry.

● A relevant qualification in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Management or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.

● Demonstrated experience managing accommodation, reservations, reception and/or housekeeping operations.

● Experience supervising, training and rostering staff.

● Strong understanding of guest service and accommodation standards.

● Experience using hotel property management systems and online booking platforms.

● Good commercial awareness, including an understanding of occupancy, accommodation pricing, revenue and payment management.

● Strong organisational and time-management skills.

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

● The ability to resolve guest and operational issues professionally and independently.

● The ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a hands-on regional hospitality environment.

● Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high operational and service standards.

What we offer

● A full-time management position in Victoria’s Alpine region.

Salary of $85,000–$95,000 per annum + superannuation, depending on experience.

● A hands-on role with responsibility across key areas of hotel accommodation operations.

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
