Our client, a rapidly expanding automotive vehicle importer headquartered in Sydney, is seeking an experienced and commercially minded HR Business Partner / People and Culture Specialist to join their team and play a critical role in building a high-performance, engaged, and values-driven workplace.
The Role
This is an onsite hands-on and influential role, partnering closely with leaders and employees across the business to strengthen performance management, employee engagement, organisational culture, and employee relations.
You will provide trusted HR advice and ensure their HR practices align with business objectives, Australian employment legislation, and corporate values.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Management
- Design, implement and continuously improve the organisation's performance management framework.
- Coordinate performance review processes
- Partner with managers to establish meaningful and measurable KPIs and provide guidance on effective feedback and performance conversations.
- Analyse performance data to identify trends, capability gaps, training requirements and succession opportunities.
- Support leaders in developing and managing effective Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
Employee Relations
- Act as a trusted point of contact for managers and employees on employee relations matters.
- Independently manage workplace investigations, grievances, disciplinary matters and conflict resolution.
- Provide guidance on Australian employment legislation, modern awards, industrial relations and HR best practice.
- Proactively identify and manage people-related risks to minimise organisational exposure.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Support the development and delivery of employee engagement and culture initiatives.
- Develop and implement recognition and employee experience programs.
- Use HR data and employee feedback to provide insights into engagement, retention, turnover and employee satisfaction.
- Partner with department heads to strengthen leadership capability, team effectiveness and employee experience.
- Champion the organisation's values and help embed a positive, high-performance culture.
General HR & Organisational Development
- Contribute to the development, review and implementation of compliant HR policies and procedures.
- Support organisational development, change management and workforce planning initiatives.
About You You are an experienced HR professional who combines strong technical HR knowledge with excellent commercial judgement and interpersonal skills.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' HR experience, including at least 2 years' experience in performance management and employee relations.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing investigations, grievances, disciplinary matters and performance issues.
- Solid experience partnering with managers and leaders to resolve complex people matters.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical capability, with experience using HR metrics and data to inform decision-making.
- A high level of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality when managing sensitive employee matters.
- The ability to balance employee advocacy with sound commercial and organisational judgement.
