Investigator — Government Regulatory Body (ACT)

�� Hedley Beare Centre, Stirling | Flexible/hybrid working available

�� $64.94/hour + Super (PAYG)

�� Start: ASAP, pending cleared Police Check | Contract to 1 March 2027

Our client, a government regulatory body overseeing education and care services, non-government schools, and home education compliance across the ACT, is seeking a highly motivated Investigator to join their team on a contract basis through to 1 March 2027.

About the role

You'll receive, assess and investigate notifications, complaints and concerns under the Education and Care Services National Law, the Children and Young People Act 2008, the Education Act 2004 and associated regulations. This is a hands-on regulatory role covering a caseload of investigations across a sector supporting hundreds of education and care services, home-educated children and non-government schools.

What you'll do

- Receive, assess and investigate notifications, complaints and concerns
- Conduct investigations and registration reviews, interview relevant parties, and draft witness statements and correspondence
- Document evidence in accordance with record management requirements




- Prepare reports and recommendations for triage and case management committees, including compliance actions and outcomes
- Deliver professional, accurate and confidential regulatory services to internal and external stakeholders
- Contribute to policy and procedure development
- Provide leadership and support within a team-based regulatory environment

What you'll bring

- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation (or ability to acquire quickly)
- Experience conducting investigations or monitoring activities within a regulatory framework
- Strong written skills — reports, administrative decisions, statutory actions and correspondence
- Ability to manage a diverse, high-volume caseload and meet deadlines
- Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and analytical skills
- Comfortable with technology and learning current systems

Requirements

- Certificate IV or Diploma in Government Investigations highly desirable (or equivalent experience)
- Current driver's licence
- Must be eligible to obtain Working with Vulnerable People registration prior to commencement
- Cleared Police Check required prior to start
