Role
Days and hours are negotiable and can be discussed with the successful applicant. The role is offered for one day per week, with flexibility around which day and the hours worked. This position includes school holiday attendance.
The position works closely with the Principal and Leadership Team to understand the school's priorities and provide practical IT advice, support and solutions. The successful candidate will be expected to take direction from the Principal and Leadership Team and effectively implement agreed priorities, projects and improvements.
The position provides day-to-day technical support and oversight of the school's IT infrastructure, systems, devices, networks and digital services, while working with Department of Education teams and external service providers where required.
The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative and responsive approach. They will be able to understand the needs of the school, respond to direction and turn agreed priorities into practical outcomes.
The successful applicant will require high level, advanced technical skills in:
- Windows Server Technologies
- Compass
- Service and management of Windows and Apple devices

- Good communication and documentation skills essential

Relevant experience in an educational setting, along with knowledge of wireless deployment and DET initiatives.
Previous experience with planning, deployment & management of 1 to 1 user/devices in an enterprise environment will be highly regarded.
Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Responsibilities
School Priorities and IT Support
- Work closely with the Principal and Leadership Team to understand and respond to the school's IT priorities and operational needs.
- Provide practical IT advice and recommendations to support school decision-making.
- Implement agreed IT priorities, projects and improvements as directed by the Principal and Leadership Team.
- Provide responsive day-to-day IT support to staff and students.
- Identify recurring IT issues and recommend practical improvements.
IT Operations and Infrastructure
- Maintain and support the school's IT infrastructure, networks, devices, systems and software.
- Monitor the performance and reliability of IT systems and identify issues requiring attention.
- Assist with the installation, configuration and maintenance of hardware, software and network equipment.
- Manage user accounts, access and permissions in accordance with Department of Education requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of IT equipment, systems and configurations.
- Coordinate repairs, replacements and upgrades as required.
Cyber Security and Risk
- Support the implementation of Department of Education cyber security requirements and processes.
- Ensure devices, systems and accounts are appropriately secured.
- Identify and report potential IT security risks or incidents.
- Support appropriate backup, recovery and business continuity processes.
- Maintain awareness of emerging cyber security risks and provide advice to school leadership where required.
Projects and External Providers
- Support the planning and implementation of IT projects and system upgrades.
- Coordinate with Department of Education IT teams, contractors and external service providers where required.
- Monitor external IT services and follow up outstanding issues to ensure they are resolved.
- Ensure IT projects and changes are communicated effectively to relevant staff.
- Assist with testing and implementation of new systems and technologies.
Staff Support and Communication
- Provide clear, professional and timely support to teachers, education support staff and administrative staff.
- Assist staff to effectively use school IT systems, devices and software.
- Communicate technical information in a clear and accessible manner.
- Develop positive working relationships with staff and service providers.
- Provide appropriate guidance and support when new technologies or systems are introduced.
Digital Technology and Innovation
- Identify technology solutions that can improve teaching, learning and administrative processes.
- Support staff in the effective use of digital technologies.
- Research emerging technologies, including AI, and provide practical advice to the Principal and Leadership Team.
- Assist with the implementation of new technologies where approved.
- Promote the effective, safe and responsible use of technology across the school.
Continuous Improvement
- Regularly review IT processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain a responsive and service-focused approach to IT support.
- Ensure agreed improvements are implemented effectively and followed through to completion.
- Keep the Principal and Leadership Team informed of significant IT issues, risks, projects and emerging needs.
