Full time Retail Trainee – Jewellery

Criterion Jewellers is looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated person to join our team as a Full-Time Retail Trainee in our Hobart CBD store.

About the traineeship

This position is a formal registered traineeship, combining full-time employment and practical on-the-job training with a nationally recognised retail qualification.

Depending on the successful applicant's existing skills and experience, the traineeship will be undertaken at either Certificate II or Certificate III level.

You'll work alongside our experienced team, developing practical retail and customer service skills while gradually building specialised knowledge of jewellery, diamonds, gemstones, precious metals, repairs, custom design and jewellery care.

About the role

Criterion Jewellers is an established independent Tasmanian jewellery store specialising in fine jewellery, engagement and wedding rings, diamonds, custom design, remodelling and repairs.

As part of our small, experienced team, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

- Welcoming and assisting customers in-store

- Learning about jewellery, diamonds, gemstones and precious metals

- Assisting with sales, customer enquiries, repairs and collections

- Processing sales, orders and lay-bys

- Answering telephone and email enquiries

- Receiving, pricing and displaying stock

- Stock control, merchandising and general administration

- Packaging and presenting customer purchases

- Maintaining jewellery displays and overall store presentation





- Daily cleaning and general housekeeping, including vacuuming, dusting and cleaning glass cabinets, mirrors and counters

As a boutique jewellery store, presentation is extremely important, and everyone in our team contributes to keeping the store clean, organised and beautifully presented.

About you

You don't need previous jewellery experience – we will teach you.

Previous retail, sales or customer service experience would certainly be an advantage; however, attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are particularly important to us.
