About the Role
We are looking for a Junior Electrical & IT Technician to join our technical team in Welshpool.
This is an entry-level technical position suited to someone with an electrical, electronic or instrumentation background who has an interest in IT, networking and technology.
You will receive on-the-job training and work alongside experienced technicians, gaining exposure to a wide range of electrical, electronic, IT, communications and subsea equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the assembly, testing and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment.
- Assist with workshop preparation of equipment for offshore projects.
- Carry out basic electrical testing and fault-finding under supervision.
- Assist with installation and testing of computers, monitors and network equipment.
- Help configure and test network-connected technical equipment.
- Assist with equipment repairs, modifications and general workshop tasks.
- Support the preparation and testing of subsea equipment prior to mobilisation.
- Maintain equipment, tools and workshop areas to a high standard.
- Complete basic equipment records and test documentation.
- Learn to diagnose electrical, electronic and IT-related faults.
- Provide general technical support to the wider Survey and Technical teams.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- A qualified Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation tradesperson, or undertaking an appropriate Tafe /technical qualification.
- Keen to develop a career in technical equipment and technology.
- Interested in IT, computers and networking.
- Practical and mechanically minded.
- A good problem solver with a willingness to learn.
- Comfortable using computers and learning new software and systems.
- Reliable, safety conscious and willing to get hands-on.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
IT Experience – Desirable
Previous IT experience is not essential, but an interest or basic knowledge of the following would be highly regarded:
- PC hardware and Windows.
- Basic networking and Ethernet.
- IP addresses and network troubleshooting.
- Network switches and routers.
- Fibre optic and communications systems.
- Video and telemetry equipment.
- General computer hardware and peripherals.
