Junior Project Manager – Mechanical Piping

Are you a Project Engineer, Site Supervisor or experienced Mechanical/Plumbing professional ready to take the next step into Project Management?

We are currently working with an established Australian mechanical services contractor with a long history of delivering complex mechanical piping and plumbing projects across the commercial, infrastructure, healthcare, defence and data centre sectors.

With a strong pipeline of major projects, including significant data centre developments, they are looking to appoint a Junior Project Manager – Mechanical Piping to join their Sydney team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 2–5 years' experience in mechanical services, HVAC, plumbing or piping who is looking to transition into project management and develop their career under the guidance of an experienced Construction Manager.

The Opportunity

You will play an important role in supporting the delivery of major mechanical piping projects, gaining exposure across the full project lifecycle while progressively taking ownership of key project responsibilities.

You'll work closely with experienced Project Managers, Site Managers, engineers, subcontractors, builders and consultants, developing your commercial, technical and project management capability along the way.

Projects will include large-scale commercial developments, data centres and infrastructure projects, with exposure to systems such as chilled water, condenser water and process piping.

Key Responsibilities





- Assist with the management of projects from planning through to completion
- Coordinate mechanical piping works, including chilled water, condenser water and process piping systems
- Assist with project programming and monitoring key project milestones
- Support project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting and financial reporting
- Assist with procurement of materials, subcontractors and services
- Support variations, progress claims and commercial administration
- Coordinate with Site Managers, Supervisors and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery
- Liaise with builders, consultants, clients and other project stakeholders
- Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and project documentation
- Work closely with design, drafting and prefabrication teams
- Assist with resolving design, coordination and constructability issues
- Attend site meetings and contribute to project reporting
- Help maintain high standards of safety, quality and project compliance

What We're Looking For

You could come from a number of different backgrounds. The ideal candidate may be:

- A Project Engineer ready to take the next step
- A Site Supervisor looking to move into project management
- A qualified Plumber or Mechanical Tradesperson with strong project exposure




- A Junior Project Manager looking to develop within a larger project environment

Ideally, you'll have:

- 2–5 years' experience in mechanical services, HVAC, plumbing or piping
- Exposure to commercial construction, infrastructure or major projects
- An understanding of mechanical piping systems such as CHW, HHW, condenser water or process piping
- The ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Strong organisational and coordination skills
- Good communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Teams and/or Project

A trade qualification in Plumbing/Mechanical Services or a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline would be highly regarded.
