About the Role We're looking for a motivated Laboratory Technician to support our Head Microbiologist in a busy, hands-on laboratory environment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail who enjoys structured, process-driven work and wants to build their career in microbiology and laboratory operations.
You'll play a key role in day-to-day lab activities — from manufacturing production batches and preparing culture media, to sample handling, equipment maintenance, and general lab support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and manufacturing of production batches according to established procedures
- Prepare, label, and handle samples for microbiological analysis, ensuring accurate documentation and traceability
- Perform routine cleaning, sterilisation, and calibration of laboratory equipment and workspaces
- Support data entry, report generation, and sample analysis under supervision
- Maintain accurate laboratory logs and records in line with company and regulatory standards
- Follow all safety, hygiene,
and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines
- Report any incidents or process deviations promptly
About You
- Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (minimum)
- Forklift licence highly regarded, but not essential
- Basic understanding of microbiological processes and lab safety
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, team-oriented, problem-solving mindset
- Comfortable working both independently and under supervision
- Able to lift and carry laboratory supplies/equipment (up to 20kg)
