The Opportunity Reporting to the Port Manager, you'll be responsible for the design, development, testing and commissioning of complex control systems supporting Brisbane Airport's baggage handling and material handling operations.
Working across the full project lifecycle, you will take engineering solutions from concept and detailed design through to PLC development, factory testing, onsite commissioning and operational support.
This role offers the perfect blend of project engineering, software development, commissioning and technical problem solving.
What You will Be Doing
- Designing control system architecture for automated conveyor and material handling systems
- Developing PLC software across Siemens, Rockwell and Omron platforms
- Delivering electrical and fieldbus system designs
- Supporting FAT, SAT and onsite commissioning activities
- Producing functional specifications and engineering documentation
- Working with SCADA, industrial networks and automation technologies
- Supporting system optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborating with customers, operational teams and project stakeholders
- Providing technical expertise on critical operational systems operating in a live airport environment
What We are Looking For
Essential
- Engineering or Mechatronics qualification, or equivalent industry experience
- Strong background in industrial automation and control systems
- Experience developing and commissioning PLC-controlled systems
- Solid knowledge of Siemens and/or Rockwell platforms
- Experience with PROFINET, AS-i and industrial fieldbus networks
- Experience commissioning automated industrial systems
- Strong technical troubleshooting and fault-finding capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Highly Regarded
- Airport baggage handling experience
- Conveyor or material handling automation experience
- EPLAN experience
- SCADA experience
- Variable Speed Drive experience
- PLC programming qualifications
- Electrical contractor licensing or similar industry credentials
