Logistics & Communications Manager
Central Production Kitchen · Fitzroy, Melbourne
Full time, Mon–Fri · $85,000 + super
Open Pantry Co. is proud to partner with a fast-growing hospitality group that is scaling its Melbourne venues, all supplied by a central production kitchen in Fitzroy. As they grow from three stores to five and beyond, they need someone to own the flow of product, information and compliance across the whole operation — the connective tissue between the kitchen, the stores and the production facility.
This is a Logistics & Communications Manager role — a senior, hands-on position with real authority. You'll be the central point of contact across sites, own compliance across the operation (the kitchen manager reports to you on this), and keep product and communication moving as the group grows. It suits someone from an FMCG or food-production background who is strong on governance, systems and clear communication.
What you'll own
- Communication & relationships — be the central point of contact between the Fitzroy kitchen, the stores, and another production facility in South Albury. Keep information clear, timely and constructive across every site. Strong written and verbal communication are both essential.
- Logistics & delivery — coordinate deliveries across Fitzroy, the Albury/Wodonga stores and the production facility; eliminate costly ad-hoc courier runs; and step in to take charge of delivery routes when needed.
- Compliance & governance — own food safety and compliance across production and supply,
with the kitchen manager reporting to you on compliance.
- Systems & tech — help build the group's systems in-house rather than leaning on third-party platforms. A robust user of tech and systems will thrive here.
- Hands-on support — stay close to production with some hands-on involvement, and visit stores in person around once a week to solve problems face-to-face.
You'll thrive here if you have
- An FMCG, food manufacturing or food-production background.
- Excellent written and verbal communication — clear, calm and relationship-building across different teams and cultures.
- Solid governance and compliance knowledge (food safety / HACCP). A Food Safety Supervisor Certification (FSSC) is highly regarded and may be a prerequisite.
- A strong grasp of tech and systems, and an appetite to help build them in-house.
- A logistics or supply-coordination mindset — you see the bottlenecks before they cost money.
- A valid driver's licence (essential) — you'll take charge of delivery routes when needed. Delivery-driving experience is a plus, not a must.
- Familiarity with inventory systems (the group uses Supy ) is a plus.
Why this role
- A pivotal, newly created position with genuine authority. You're building the operation's backbone from the ground up.
- A group in real growth mode with a clear expansion roadmap across Melbourne and interstate.
- Real breadth: logistics, communication, compliance, systems and hands-on operations in one role.
- Monday-to-Friday, full-time: a rare thing in hospitality.
