At Daniel’s Donuts, there’s a lot that happens before a donut makes it into the box.

Mixers mix. Conveyors move. Production lines run. Pies bake. Donuts are decorated. And behind all of that, we need someone who knows their way around machinery and can keep everything running safely and reliably.

That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a hands-on Maintenance Fitter to join our Truganina manufacturing team. You’ll be based primarily at our GD Pies facility, while also lending your maintenance expertise to our nearby main bakery when needed.

This isn’t an engineering-management role, and it isn’t a general handyman gig. You’ll be on the tools, solving problems, fixing machinery, and helping keep production moving.

We make a LOT of food — donuts, pies, muffins, pastries and plenty more — supplying our own stores as well as major wholesale customers across Australia.

? What you’ll be doing

Your mission is simple

Keep our equipment secure, reliable, and running.

On any given day, you could be:

· Responding to breakdowns and getting production moving again — fast and safe.

· Completing planned and preventative maintenance before small problems become big ones.

· Fault-finding across industrial mixers, conveyors, motors, belts, bearings and other production machinery.

· Completing mechanical repairs, adjustments, and component replacements.

· Carrying out minor welding and fabrication.

· Diagnosing recurring faults and getting to the actual cause — not just applying another temporary fix.

· Identifying whether a fault is mechanical or electrical and knowing when to bring in a licensed electrician or specialist.





· Testing machinery and safely returning equipment to production.

· Keeping an eye on equipment condition and spotting potential problems before they cause downtime.

· Managing maintenance priorities independently at our GD Pies facility.

· Supporting our nearby main bakery when another pair of skilled hands is needed.

· Keeping maintenance records up to date and making sure spare parts requirements are flagged early.

And because we manufacture food, clean, safe and food-safe maintenance matters just as much as getting the machine running again.

You’ll follow isolation and lock-out procedures, control tools and components around exposed product, maintain foreign-matter controls, and leave equipment and production areas clean when the job is finished.

?️ What we’re looking for

We want someone who is genuinely comfortable on the tools and enjoys figuring out why something isn’t working.

You’ll ideally bring

· A relevant mechanical trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade / Fitting & Machining, or equivalent.

· Hands-on maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment.

· Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.

· Experience maintaining equipment such as conveyors, mixers, motors, belts, and bearings.

· Breakdown planned and preventative maintenance experience.

· Minor welding and fabrication capability.

· Enough electrical knowledge to identify a likely electrical fault — and enough judgement to know when the licensed experts need to take over.

· A proactive mindset — if you see something that needs attention,



you deal with it rather than walking past it.

· The ability to prioritise competing maintenance issues without needing someone standing over your shoulder.

· Clear communication with operators, production leaders, and management.

Experience in food, beverage, bakery, FMCG, packaging, or pharmaceutical manufacturing would be fantastic, but bakery experience isn't essential.

Forklift, EWP, or other relevant high-risk work licences are also a bonus.

You fix things properly. Faults are diagnosed accurately; repairs last and repeat breakdowns become the exception.

You own your site. You know the equipment, understand the priorities, and stay ahead of maintenance issues.

You work safely. No shortcuts. Lock-out and isolation procedures are followed every time.

You understand that we're making food. Tools, components, hygiene, and foreign-matter risks are controlled properly.

People know what is happening. Production understands equipment status, outstanding issues are communicated, and maintenance records stay current.

You’ll have the autonomy to own day-to-day maintenance at your primary site, while still having support from our Production Machine Operations Manager and the wider operations team when bigger or more complex issues arise.
