Appoint Recruit is seeking two Materials Technicians to support laboratory and field-based testing across Queensland road infrastructure projects.

Two opportunities are available

TRAINEE MATERIALS TECHNICIAN | ? Warwick | ? Up to $44.75 per hour + super An entry-level opportunity offering hands-on training in construction materials testing. This could suit someone from civil construction, quarrying, concrete, asphalt, geotechnical services or laboratory support.

Civil engineering, engineering technology and applied science students or graduates are also encouraged to apply, provided they can work full time.

ASSISTANT MATERIALS TECHNICIAN | ? Toowoomba |? Up to $50.90 per hour +super

This position is suited to someone with practical exposure to construction materials testing, geotechnical services, civil quality assurance, quarrying, concrete or asphalt production, or laboratory and field work.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Depending on the position, your responsibilities may include:

- Sampling and testing soil, aggregate, concrete, bitumen and asphalt
- Completing laboratory testing and field-based sampling
- Supporting pavement investigations
- Processing results and maintaining accurate records
- Operating,



checking and maintaining testing equipment
- Assisting with technical investigations and materials research
- Following relevant departmental and Australian Standard testing procedures

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

- Current Class C driver licence
- Strong numeracy and attention to detail
- Practical and safety-conscious approach
- Confidence working in laboratory and outdoor environments
- Ability to handle samples weighing up to 25kg
- Flexibility to undertake regional travel and work at isolated locations

CONTRACT DETAILS

- 38 hours per week
- 1 October 2026 to 1 April 2027
- Two possible six-month extensions
- Approximately 20% regional travel

Approved travel, accommodation, meals and incidental expenses covered when required These positions offer the opportunity to develop valuable technical experience while supporting the quality of materials used across Queensland’s road network.
