About the role
We're hiring a Medical Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our patients. This is a permanent part-time role with fixed, predictable hours — 12:00pm to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. No weekends, no evenings, no rotating roster. You'll be the person who makes a patient's first interaction with us calm, skilled and confidential.
Key responsibilities
- Answer inbound calls and respond to patient enquiries by phone and email
- Manage the telehealth appointment book — bookings, rescheduling, cancellations, waitlist
- Prepare and manage patient records in our practice management system
- Process payments, receipting, Medicare and health fund claiming
- Liaise with pathology providers and follow up outstanding results workflows
- Support our doctors with day-to-day administrative tasks
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy to the highest standard
- Keep the clinic space and reception area presentable for in-person appointments
About you
- Excellent phone manner and written communication
- Genuine discretion — you'll handle sensitive health information every day
- Comfortable and non-judgemental discussing sexual health topics with patients
- Strong computer skills and the ability to pick up new software quickly
- Accurate, organised, and able to prioritise without being told twice
- Right to work in Australia
- Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Previous medical reception or healthcare administration experience (desirable)
- Experience with practice management software and Medicare/DVA claiming (desirable)
- Familiarity with medical terminology (desirable)

Benefits
- $29.11 per hour plus 12% superannuation (approx. $582.20 per week / $30,275 per year pro-rata, plus super)
- Classified as Support Services Employee Level 3 under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2020 (MA000027)
- Fixed, reliable hours — 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- All standard NES entitlements pro-rata: paid annual leave (plus 17.5% leave loading), personal/carer's leave, public holidays
