About the role

Northern Urology Clinic is seeking a professional and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our team in Pimlico, Queensland. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will be instrumental in creating a welcoming environment and supporting our clinical team to provide high-quality urological services to our community.

What you'll be doing

- Greeting and welcoming patients in a professional and friendly manner, ensuring they feel comfortable and valued
- Managing patient appointments, scheduling, rescheduling and maintaining accurate booking records using clinic management systems
- Handling patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying personal and insurance information
- Processing patient payments and managing billing inquiries with accuracy and discretion
- Answering and directing telephone calls, taking messages and responding to patient enquiries in a timely manner
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and clinic policies
- Preparing patient files and medical records for appointments, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete
- Coordinating with clinical staff to support efficient clinic operations and patient flow
- Performing administrative tasks including data entry, filing and general clerical work
- Managing waiting areas to maintain a clean, organised and professional environment

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a medical receptionist or in a similar healthcare administration role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, staff and external contacts
- Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail, particularly when managing multiple appointments and tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency with computer systems and medical practice management software, or willingness to learn




- Professional telephone manner and customer service experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of healthcare practices, or demonstrated capacity to develop this knowledge
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- A friendly, patient and empathetic approach to patient interactions
- Reliability and punctuality with a commitment to professional standards
- Relevant qualifications or training in medical administration or reception (preferred)
