About the role The Welder/Fabricator will be responsible for the welding, fabrication, and assembly of metal structures, equipment, and components, primarily in the construction, manufacturing, or industrial sector. The role involves working with various metals, such as steel, aluminium, and other alloys, and may also require performing maintenance and repairs on heavy machinery, boilers, and pressure vessels.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse drawings and specifications to determine job requirements and fabrication methods.
- Prepare metal materials by selecting, cleaning, and measuring stock to meet project needs.
- Cut & shape metal components using hand tools, mechanical cutting machines, flame-cutting equipment.
- Form and assemble metal parts into structural frameworks or custom builds.
- Use welding, riveting, and bolting techniques to join components securely and accurately.
- Verify the quality of joins and welds,
ensuring correct dimensions and strength of fabricated structures.
- Smooth and finish welded areas using grinders, files, or other tools.
- Operate or program fabrication equipment, including CNC or computer-aided machinery, when required.
About you
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy metal fabrication
- Sound knowledge of welding processes and metalworking techniques
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and use precision measuring tools
- Robust attention to detail, safety awareness, and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Capability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
