Performance Engineer | AWS + Gatling | Melbourne

I’m currently recruiting for an exciting Performance Engineer opportunity with a high-volume digital organisation in Melbourne.

This is a excellent opportunity for a performance engineer who enjoys going beyond simply running tests – getting into how systems behave under load, identifying bottlenecks, improving scalability and helping engineering teams build highly resilient platforms.

What you’ll be doing

- Design and execute performance and load testing strategies
- Develop and maintain performance test scripts and tooling
- Analyse system behaviour across applications, APIs, data and infrastructure
- Identify performance issues, bottlenecks and scalability risks
- Work closely with engineering, delivery and operational teams
- Contribute to capacity planning and usage modelling
- Support the development of highly scalable, resilient and recoverable systems
- Help develop performance engineering capability across the wider technology organisation
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines

️ What we’re looking for

Essential:

- Strong commercial experience in Performance Engineering / Performance Testing
- Hands-on experience with Gatling
- Strong experience working with AWS / public cloud
- Experience developing quality code and working with software development practices
- CI/CD experience, ideally with Jenkins and/or GitHub
- Solid Git experience




- Good understanding of *nix/Linux environments
- Ability to deep-dive into technical issues and drive resolution
- 4+ years’ experience in performance engineering

Nice to have:

- Python
- AWS CloudFormation
- JMeter or other performance testing tools
- SQL
- Log analysis / monitoring tools
- Test automation frameworks
