Occupational Therapist – Independent Contractor

Hope Allied Health Services is seeking experienced Occupational Therapists to provide assessment, report-writing and therapy services on an independent contractor basis.
Contract opportunities are available across Australia, with services delivered through telehealth, community visits and, for therapists located in Western Sydney, our Blacktown clinic. This opportunity is well suited to Occupational Therapists seeking greater flexibility, professional autonomy and control over their workload.
About the Opportunity
Contractors can nominate their preferred:
- Days and hours of availability.
- Geographic service areas.
- Modes of service delivery.
- Client age groups and clinical areas.
- Types and volume of referrals they wish to accept.
There are no set hours or guaranteed minimum caseload. Contractors retain the discretion to accept or decline individual referrals according to their availability, expertise and scope of practice.
Types of Work Available
Depending on your qualifications and experience, referrals may include:
- Functional Capacity Assessments.
- Assistive Technology assessments and recommendations.
- Home and Living assessments, including SIL and SDA.
- Home modification assessments.
- Activities of Daily Living assessments.
- Sensory, motor and functional assessments.
- Paediatric and adult occupational therapy.
- Capacity-building and ongoing therapy.
- Telehealth assessments and intervention.
- Clinical reports, progress reports and letters of recommendation.
- Collaboration with families, carers, support coordinators and other professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive, person-centred occupational therapy assessments.
- Identify clients’ strengths, functional needs, risks and support requirements.
- Develop evidence-based recommendations and intervention plans.
- Prepare clear, accurate and clinically justified reports within agreed timeframes.
- Deliver safe, respectful and goal-directed occupational therapy services.
- Maintain timely case notes and clinical documentation.
- Communicate effectively with clients and relevant stakeholders.
- Work within professional, ethical and legislative requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy and safeguarding obligations.
Contractor Requirements
Applicants must have
- A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA.
- An active Australian Business Number.
- Appropriate skilled indemnity and public liability insurance.
- Relevant occupational therapy experience, particularly in assessments and report writing.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one.
- Working with Children Check where providing services to children.
- Current Australian driver’s licence and access to an insured vehicle for community-based work.
- Strong written communication, time-management and clinical reasoning skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage agreed referrals and deadlines.
- Suitable equipment, technology and a private workspace when providing telehealth services.

Our team provides Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Psychology and Physiotherapy through clinic-based appointments, community visits and telehealth. We work collaboratively with clients, families, carers and other professionals to deliver practical, evidence-based support tailored to each person’s strengths, needs and goals.

Pay: $90.00 – $125.00 per hour
