Open Space & Recreation Planner | Plans of Management 35 hours per week
Immediate Start A dedicated Open Space & Recreation Planner required to manage the Plans of Management program, mitigate compliance risks, unlock asset and service delivery opportunities and ensure Council can deliver its land management and community infrastructure objectives in a timely and compliant manner.
About the role
Reporting to the Open Space & Recreation Planning Team Leader, you will lead the preparation and review of generic and site-specific Plans of Management and provide specialist advice across Council. You will work closely with internal teams, community stakeholders, consultants and other key partners to ensure Council's community land is managed lawfully, sustainably and in a way that responds to community needs.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development, review and implementation of Plans of Management in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Provide specialist technical advice to Council teams regarding community land and Plans of Management.
- Lead community consultation and engagement activities.
- Undertake research, analysis and strategic planning relating to open space and recreation.
- Work with Council's GIS team to support accurate open-space data and planning.
- Prepare high-quality reports,
policies, strategies and planning documentation.
- Provide strategic advice to senior staff on complex and sensitive open-space matters.
- Manage projects across scope, time, cost, quality, risk, procurement and stakeholder engagement.
- Support the implementation and ongoing review of open-space and recreation strategies.
About you
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental/Land Management or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in open space planning and strategic planning.
- Solid working knowledge of the NSW Local Government Act 1993 and Crown Land Management Act 2016.
- Demonstrated experience developing and/or reviewing Plans of Management.
- Experience leading community consultation and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong project management, research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare Council reports and strategic documents.
