Your new role
Reporting to the Senior Payroll Coordinator, the Payroll Specialist will play a key role in supporting the delivery of payroll operations for upcoming electoral events across Victoria. This position is responsible for managing payroll-related activities, ensuring the accurate processing of payroll and superannuation matters, and supporting payroll operations during significant election periods where workforce numbers can increase substantially. This role is a labour hire appointment, until February 2027.
Key responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll activities, supporting both routine payroll cycles and high-volume payroll processing during election periods
- Process payroll transactions accurately and efficiently within Aurion, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Manage a high-volume payroll inbox, respond to employee payroll enquiries and provide clear, accurate payroll advice
- End-to-end superannuation administration via clearing house, including processing payments, managing compliance activities, investigating returns and maintaining data integrity.
- Provide payroll advice and support to internal stakeholders on payroll matters
- Create and maintain payroll documentation, including procedures,
and guides to support the payroll function
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing, including strong superannuation knowledge
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
- Experience managing superannuation compliance, reconciliations and data integrity activities
- Payroll systems experience, ideally with Aurion experience
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
- Experience handling high volumes of payroll queries in a busy environment
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Offering an hourly rate of $63.82 - $72.42 + superannuation, depending on experience, this role provides the opportunity to contribute directly to the delivery of Victorian elections and democratic processes while supporting a large-scale and highly visible public sector organisation.
