Sydney Inner West | Regular shifts and/or casual cover opportunities
Love Pilates, but don’t necessarily want to work in a Pilates-only studio?
Or perhaps you’re a Personal Trainer who loves combining strength, fitness and Pilates - and you’re looking for somewhere a little different to grow?
Haven is looking for a brilliant Personal Trainer who is also qualified to teach Mat Pilates to join our small, values-led team in Sydney’s Inner West.
We’re open to finding the right fit - whether you’re looking for regular weekly shifts, occasional casual cover work, or a combination of both.
A little about the role
Haven isn’t a dedicated Pilates studio.
We’re a personal training, strength, fitness, yoga and movement studio, with Mat Pilates as one of our much-loved class offerings.
So while Mat Pilates qualifications and confident class teaching are essential for this particular role, we're looking first and foremost for someone who genuinely enjoys Personal Training and coaching people across different kinds of movement.
Depending on your availability and experience, shifts may include a combination of:
- Mat Pilates class or two
- 1:1 Personal Training
- Semi-Private Personal Training - up to 3 clients
- Small group Strength/Fitness sessions
- Client support and connection
- Light studio/admin tasks that help keep our little community humming
For trainers interested in regular shifts, let's chat! We have a variety of potential shifts up for grabs.
If regular shifts aren't what you're looking for, we'd also love to hear from great trainers interested in joining our casual covers team.
The right person matters enormously to us.
Haven is a body-positive,
LGBTQ inclusive movement studio created as an alternative for people who often haven’t felt comfortable or represented in mainstream fitness spaces.
There are
No weigh-ins.
No before-and-after photos.
No “Pilates body”.
No food guilt or diet talk.
No assumption that smaller, leaner, fitter or more flexible = better.
Our offerings aren't about creating longer, leaner bodies or chasing a particular aesthetic.
They're about helping people explore movement, build strength and confidence, connect with their bodies and hopefully have a really valuable time doing it.
We use invitational, collaborative coaching and recognise that the client is the expert in their own lived experience and body. Our role is to offer skilled guidance, options and support - not dictate what somebody “should” be able to do.
You'll work with people across different ages, body sizes, identities, abilities, movement histories and confidence levels - including plenty of people who may have previously felt that Pilates or gyms simply weren't “for them”.
You might be our person if you...
- Hold Cert III & IV in Fitness
- Hold a recognised Mat Pilates qualification
- Have current First Aid & CPR
- Genuinely enjoy Personal Training as well as teaching Pilates
- Can confidently lead engaging, inclusive Mat Pilates classes
- Are warm, approachable and genuinely good with people
- Are reliable, communicative and take ownership of your commitments
- Can adapt movement for different bodies,
abilities and experience levels
- Use collaborative, invitational coaching rather than a “trainer knows best” approach
- Are comfortable working completely outside weight-loss and diet-culture messaging
- Care about making movement accessible, enjoyable and welcoming
- Enjoy being part of a small team and getting to know your clients
Additional experience in strength, mobility, boxing, yoga or other movement modalities is a lovely bonus.
We particularly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented in mainstream fitness spaces, including trainers of diverse body sizes, ages, genders and cultural backgrounds.
What you'll get
- Above-award casual rates super
- Regular weekly shifts and/or flexible cover opportunities
- A beautiful, character-filled Inner West studio
- A wonderfully diverse community to coach
- A small, supportive team
- Space to bring your personality and strengths to your coaching
- Opportunities to contribute ideas, specialised sessions, workshops and other fun stuff
- A workplace where you don't have to sell weight loss, aesthetics or the mythical “Pilates body” to help people feel great through movement
This could suit an experienced trainer looking for a refreshing change, or a newer trainer with maturity, initiative and the right values who wants somewhere supportive to grow.
We care far more about finding the right human than the longest CV.
Sound like your kind of place?
We’d love to meet you.
Please send your CV plus a short introduction telling us why Haven's approach appeals to you and what you'd love to bring to our community to [email protected], or complete this quick 2-minute form here.
