We’re seeking experienced Plant & Tooling Maintenance Mechanics with a passion for servicing and repairing small engines, generators and tooling, as well as carrying out preventative maintenance to keep our sites operating at full capacity.
This is a permanent opportunity working on a 2:1 FIFO roster. You’ll support some of Western Australia’s largest civil and resources projects while working alongside a highly experienced and collaborative team.

About the role
As the Plant & Tooling Maintenance Mechanic, you'll be responsible for servicing and repairing small motors, generators, tools and earth moving equipment, coordinating warranty and supplier repairs, conducting equipment inspections, monitoring servicing requirements, and maintaining accurate asset records using digital tracking systems. Working closely with site teams and engineers, you'll play a key role in keeping our projects running efficiently and ensuring equipment remains safe, compliant and operational.

Key responsibilities
- Work a FIFO 2:1 roster across multiple project sites throughout Western Australia.
- Travel regularly between sites, including fly-in fly-out mobilisations each swing.
- Service, maintain and repair small motors, generators, tools and ancillary equipment.
- Diagnose faults and coordinate repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
- Manage warranty repairs,
including arranging the dispatch and collection of equipment with suppliers.
- Monitor and coordinate planned plant and equipment servicing requirements.
- Conduct visual inspections of plant and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Complete onboard and off-hire inspections for owned and hired equipment.
- Verify that machine pre-start inspections are being completed correctly by operators.
- Utilise digital asset management and equipment tracking applications to maintain accurate records.
- Liaise with site engineers and suppliers to source parts and support maintenance requirements.
- Build strong working relationships with site personnel through effective communication and collaboration.
- Navigate large construction sites to perform inspections, audits and equipment assessments.
What you'll bring
- Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing small motors, generators, portable tools and light construction equipment.
- Familiarity with access equipment, material handling equipment and earthmoving machinery.
- Previous experience working in the civil construction, mining, plant hire or equipment hire industries.
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
- Experience liaising with parts suppliers, repair agents and dry hire plant suppliers.
- Strong understanding of plant and equipment servicing schedules and maintenance requirements.
- Competent computer skills with the ability to utilise equipment tracking and asset management systems.
- Ability to interpret service information, maintenance records and inspection reports.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across site and office teams.
- A proactive approach to safety, equipment compliance and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites and manage competing priorities.
Highly regarded qualifications and tickets include:
- Certificate III in small motor, light or heavy vehicle
- AUR20820 Certificate II in Outdoor Power Equipment
- AUR30720 Certificate III in Outdoor Power Equipment
- RIISAM204E Operate Small Plant and Equipment (or equivalent experience)
- Test and Tag qualification.
- Basic welding and fabrication experience.
