About the Role
n
As a Labourer – Rural Works,
you will carry out maintenance and construction activities across rural roads, state highways, urban streets, kerb and gutter, and footpath assets. Key responsibilities include:
n
n
- Completing rural road maintenance, pipe laying, culvert work, concreting, bitumen patching, fence construction and road furniture maintenance
n
- Carrying out roadside clean ups and assisting with traffic management setup
n
- Conducting routine inspections of minor plant, tools and equipment and recommending repairs
n
- Safely undertaking tree maintenance and removal as part of scheduled road maintenance
n
- Coordinating workflow to ensure tasks are completed on time and to the required standard
n
- Operating and maintaining Council plant and equipment, including Front End Loader, Backhoe and Skid Steer, to acceptable standards
n
- Completing accurate daily records such as timesheets, tasking sheets and plant operating sheets
n
- Ensuring hazard identification, site safety checks and appropriate traffic control plans are completed and implemented before commencing work
n

Salary and Benefits

- Grade 2: $1,049.98 to $1,199.96 based on qualifications and experience
n

What We're Looking For
n
You have:
n
n
- General knowledge of rural road maintenance and construction, including remote areas, and experience operating and maintaining small plant and equipment
n
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and contribute positively within a team
n
- Clear communication skills and the ability to interpret works programs
n
- Solid organisational skills, problem solving ability and the capacity to manage competing priorities
n
- Safe manual handling skills and experience in small plant operation
n
- Numeracy and literacy levels typically associated with Year 10 education
n
- Current Class MR or higher driver licence (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
n
- Current Traffic Controller Card (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
n
- Australian residency or valid work visa
n
- Demonstrated competency for Backhoe, Skid Steer and Front End Loader
n
