Maintain the energy management system models that keep a major Victorian network running safely and reliably.

- EMS modelling and grid engineering
- New connections, batteries and network augmentation
- Major Victorian network business

In short: A power systems engineering role with a major Victorian electricity network business, maintaining energy management system models and supporting the commissioning and registration of generating plant as new connections, batteries and network changes come online. Electrical Engineering degree with a power systems focus required.

D'Arcy Weil is recruiting a Power Systems Engineer — Congestion & Grid Engineering on behalf of a major Victorian electricity network business. Sitting within the grid engineering function, the role supports control room operations through accurate power system modelling, analysis and tools development across a complex and rapidly evolving network.

Victoria's grid is under sustained pressure from new generation, battery storage and load growth, and the control room's ability to operate safely and reliably depends on the accuracy of the models underneath it. This role owns that accuracy. As generators connect, batteries come online and the network is augmented, the energy management system has to reflect reality precisely and promptly — get it wrong, and operational decisions are made on bad information.

This is the technical discipline that stands between a fast-changing physical network and a control room that needs to trust what it's looking at.

The Role

- Conduct regular and timely updates to the energy management system to reflect power system changes, including new generation connections, loads, batteries and network augmentation
- Implement improvements and resolve modelling issues identified by internal and external stakeholders, closing the loop between what the system shows and what the network actually looks like
- Contribute to the commissioning and registration of generating plant, including SCADA list approval,

point-to-point testing and automatic generation control testing
- Work closely with control room operators, network planners and connecting parties to keep models current as projects move from approval through to energisation
- Support troubleshooting and root-cause investigation where modelling discrepancies affect operational visibility

About You

- Electrical Engineering degree with a power systems focus
- Energy sector experience or a background in a comparable complex infrastructure environment
- Experience with power system modelling and analysis tools, including SCADA and energy management systems
- A sound understanding of power system fundamentals, with the ability to apply technical knowledge to practical problem-solving
- Comfortable working methodically and accurately in an environment where model integrity has real operational consequences

What's on Offer

- Base of $130,000–$165,000 plus superannuation, dependent on experience
- A technical grid engineering role at the centre of Victoria's energy transition
- Direct exposure to new generation, battery storage and network augmentation projects as the network transforms
- Structured career development, mentoring and support toward chartered engineer status
- Performance-linked bonus, salary packaging and educational assistance
- Versatile working arrangements, generous leave and genuine parental leave entitlements
- A safety-first, inclusive culture within a trusted leader in Victoria's energy transition

Apply with a CV and a brief profile covering:

- Your power system modelling and EMS experience
- Your exposure to SCADA and generation commissioning
- Your understanding of power system fundamentals and how you've applied them to solve practical problems
