About this opportunity The VEC currently has multiple opportunities to join the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team and contribute to the upcoming State Election, which will be held on 28 November 2026. We are seeking individuals with experience in Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) or within People and Culture, supported by a strong foundational understanding of HSW systems, processes and communications.
Our ideal candidates are available to start immediatel y and are eager to contribute to Victoria's democracy by providing meaningful support and guidance to the thousands of employees recruited to deliver this significant and important event. Flexibility is required for this role, with additional evening and weekend work (Saturdays) expected during peak election periods to ensure the successful delivery of critical election activities and workforce support.
About the team The People Group is responsible for delivering compliant health, safety and wellbeing programs and for establishing systems, policies and processes that support the full employment lifecycle and supports strategic initiatives that support employee development, productivity and engagement, and align with organisational objectives.
A day in the life of a Project Support Officer, Health, Safety, & Wellbeing
You will support Health & Wellbeing outcomes by reviewing workforce documentation and responding to health, safety and wellbeing enquiries from employees, election staff and managers, ensuring sensitive information is handled with care and confidentiality. Throughout the day, you'll triage incident notifications, support workplace adjustment and return to work processes, maintain accurate records and liaise with a range of stakeholders to gather information and resolve matters. During peak election periods, you'll help manage high volumes of enquiries and workforce data,and work closely with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team to identify and escalate emerging risks.
About you The successful candidate for this role will be someone who;
- Provides effective administrative and project support in a fast-paced environment, including coordinating tasks, maintaining records, and supporting delivery to agreed timeframes
- Demonstrates an understanding of workplace health and safety processes and employee wellbeing practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical workplace setting
- Works collaboratively with others and communicatesing clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders
- Responds quickly to changing priorities, identifying and escalating routine issues or risks, and managing competing demands during peak periods
- Qualification in Business Administration, Human Resources, Health and Safety or a related discipline is desirable
