About INIT
INIT is a global leader in integrated public transport technology, helping transport operators and authorities make public transport smarter, more efficient and more connected.
Our Australian team is delivering the Account Based Ticketing (ABT) Solution for Sydney’s Opal Next Generation program. This is a complex, highly regulated and long-term program that will play an important role in the future of public transport ticketing in NSW.
We are now looking for an experienced Quality Manager to join our program team and establish the Quality, WHS and Environmental management framework that will support delivery through to 2037.
The opportunity
This is a hands-on, build-from-the-ground-up role. You will establish and embed the program's Quality, WHS and Environmental management systems, leveraging INIT's global frameworks while developing locally tailored solutions to meet Australian, NSW and TfNSW requirements.
In the initial phase, you will also take hands-on responsibility for WHS, including site audits and inspections, incident and near-miss management, safety assessments, legislative interpretation and regulator/customer liaison. As the program moves into deployment, a dedicated WHS Manager/Lead will assume day-to-day WHS execution, while you retain responsibility for the WHS Management System, ISO 45001, assurance and regulator-facing matters.
You'll be tasked with:
- Establishing and maintaining ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Developing policies, procedures, management plans, registers and governance frameworks.
- Leading internal, certification, TfNSW, supplier and independent assurance audits.
- Managing non-conformances, corrective actions, audit findings and continuous improvement.
- Providing quality assurance across design, build, configuration, installation and operational activities.
- Establishing contractor and supplier Quality and WHS assurance frameworks.
- Managing document control, records management and quality awareness.
- Acting as INIT's primary quality representative with TfNSW, regulators, certification bodies and auditors.
- Leading quarterly management reviews and QHSE reporting.
- WHS regulatory and incident accountability, including site audits and inspections, incident and near-miss management (in the initial phase prior to transferring to dedicated WHS Manager)
Ideally, we are looking for:
- 10+ years' experience in senior Quality, WHS, QHSE, assurance, compliance or integrated management-system roles.
- Proven experience establishing and managing complex management systems in regulated environments.
- Extensive practical experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001; ISO 14001 experience is highly desirable.
- Strong auditing and assurance experience, including certification and government/client audits.
- Experience with contractor/supplier assurance, corrective actions, non-conformances and continuous improvement.
- Strong practical knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and experience managing workplace incidents and site audits.
- Excellent stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work confidently with government, regulators, auditors, executives and technical teams.
- Experience in transport, rail, major infrastructure, defence, utilities, aviation, engineering or technology deployment will be highly regarded.
- An ISO 9001 and/or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification would be advantageous.
Why INIT? This is an opportunity to have a genuine impact from the outset. Rather than stepping into an established QHSE function, you will help create the framework that will govern quality, safety and environmental performance across a significant public transport technology program.
You'll have the opportunity to build, influence and shape the QHSE framework from its early stages through to 2037, with direct exposure to senior stakeholders, TfNSW, regulators and independent assurance bodies.
If you're a senior QHSE skilled who enjoys building robust systems, solving complex compliance challenges and taking genuine ownership, we'd like to hear from you.
INIT are committed to building a diverse, inclusive and accessible workplace where everyone is valued and respected. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and encourage people with disability to apply. We will make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and, where required, in the workplace to support accessibility and enable all candidates to participate and perform at their best.
