About Alano and the role
Alano Water develops and operates water and wastewater infrastructure across South Australia. With significant projects ahead, we are seeking an experienced Quality & Systems Coordinator to keep our quality systems effective as the business grows.
You will coordinate documentation, internal audits and our annual external ISO certification audit, working closely with engineering, office and field personel. You will check that requirements are being followed in practice and help improve the quality and efficiency of our work.
What you will do
- Maintain controlled procedures, forms, registers and management plans, with clear approval and version control.
- Ensure Compliance of Operational Management Plans and their implementation.
- Check inspection, maintenance and operational records for accuracy and completeness; follow up missing information and overdue actions.
- Work with our engineers to reflect applicable Australian Standards, approvals and operational requirements in procedures and supporting records.
- Plan and undertake internal audits, record findings and verify that corrective actions address the underlying issues.
- Coordinate the annual external ISO audit, including scheduling, evidence, staff preparation, auditor liaison and follow-up actions.
- Visit sites, check how procedures are applied, explain requirements and follow up with field staff to achieve consistent standards.
- Identify errors, duplication and delays; develop practical improvements with the team and check that they work.
- Keep management informed of audit results, outstanding risks, overdue actions and recommended improvements.
What you will bring
- Demonstrated experience maintaining a quality management system, controlling documents and keeping reliable compliance records.
- Practical experience conducting internal audits and coordinating or substantially supporting external ISO certification audits.
- The confidence to question inconsistencies, request evidence and follow up requirements respectfully with office and field staff.
- The judgement to investigate issues, recommend solutions, act within your authority and escalate matters requiring technical or management decisions.
- Robust organisation and attention to detail, with confidence using digital inspection, document and action-tracking systems.
- A current driver’s licence and the ability and willingness to drive independently to country sites as required.
Experience in water, utilities, engineering, construction or another regulated operational business would be valuable. Relevant internal-auditor training or a quality-systems qualification would also be well regarded. How we expect you to work
You are comfortable having direct, respectful conversations and escalating unresolved issues when necessary.
We value initiative, honesty and constructive teamwork. You take responsibility for agreed work, respond professionally to feedback and ask for help when needed. You look for ways to make systems easier to use and more efficient while maintaining the required standards.
Working with us
You will have clear priorities, access to technical support and room to organise your work independently. Your contribution will be visible in more reliable records, completed actions and improvements that make daily work easier for the team.
The role is part-time and based at our Pirie Street office in Adelaide CBD. Country site visits are a required part of the role: you will need to travel independently to meet field staff, inspect records and check that procedures are being followed. Hours, workdays and travel arrangements will be agreed during recruitment.
