About the role The Reception Centre Manager is a full-time position responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Reception Centre at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum of Natural History. This role manages Museum and Park programs (excluding Dig-A-Dino and Prep-A-Dino), accommodation, cafés, shops, customer service, and assists with human resources and Museum operations. The position reports to the Head of Museum and is responsible for the Reception Centre Supervisor, Café Supervisor, Front of House Assistant, and Administration Officer.
Key responsibilities
- Support staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations at the Reception Centre, Dinosaur Canyon, the March of the Titanosaurs exhibition, night experiences and Dinosaur Stampede
- Be readily available and approachable to assist staff members throughout all visitor experiences
- Foster open communication and a positive, collaborative environment across all front-of-house teams
- Maintain flexibility to step in where needed during busy times or unexpected situations
- Help to deliver consistently welcoming and engaging visitor experiences across all tours and areas
- Monitor the quality of services and visitor satisfaction, working with staff to maintain high standards
- Manage program enquiries, bookings, delivery and evaluation of the Museum's programs, events, famils, one-off public programs and venue-usage requests
- Manage accommodation bookings at the Maloney Lodge Precinct and AAOD Staff Village, including issuing letters of offer to tenants, managing General Tenancy Agreements, managing property condition reports and handling collection,
lodgement and refund of bond payments
- Manage and maintain the Museum's booking software, ResPax
- Manage all stock, orders and monitoring expenditure for the Cafés efficiently and safely
About you
- Knowledge of customer-service best practice and practical knowledge of customer-service delivery
- Knowledge of human resources and staff training
- Knowledge of booking systems
- An interest in or knowledge of aspects of natural history and Earth sciences
- Working knowledge of work health and safety legislation and good practice, including food safety
- Excellent customer-service skills
- An aptitude for retail and café presentation and operations
- Valuable numerical and statistical abilities
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills
- Flexible and willing to contribute to a seven-day-a-week roster, including public holidays and weekends, particularly from April to September

Age of Dinosaurs was incorporated as a not-for-profit organisation in October 2002. The Museum relocated to The Jump-Up, 24km south-east of Winton in Central West Queensland, in 2009. Today the Museum houses the world's largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils and comprises a Fossil Preparation Laboratory, Reception Centre and the March of the Titanosaurs exhibition at Dinosaur Canyon. The Museum is a non-profit organisation which draws support from across Australia.
