Endoscopy Nurse (RN/EN) — Coburg
We are a specialist gastroenterology day procedure centre in Coburg. We do one thing and we do it properly: endoscopy and colonoscopy, in a small, secure, close-knit team.
We are looking for one nurse to join us permanently.
What makes this job different
- Day hours only. No nights, no weekends, no on-call, no rotating roster. Ever.
- Your days are known in advance, so you can build a life around them.
- A small team where you are a person, not a number on a roster grid.
- One site, one specialty, one team — you are not shuffled between wards.
- We train. If you have strong procedural, recovery or day-surgery nursing behind you and you want to move into other areas within our day hospital, we will teach you the specialty properly and pay you while we do it.
What you will be doing
- Preparing and maintaining the procedure rooms and endoscopic equipment.
- Assisting the gastroenterologist and anaesthetist through the list, anticipating rather than reacting.
- Admission, recovery and discharge care: observations, medication administration, patient comfort and dignity.
- Recognising deterioration early and escalating without hesitation.
- Endoscope reprocessing and infection control to the standard
- Accurate, contemporaneous documentation.
- Contributing to our quality and safety program.
Essential
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
- Endoscopy procedure-room experience (scrub/scout)
- Recent hands-on clinical experience in a procedural, perioperative, recovery, day-surgery or endoscopy setting.
- Sound clinical assessment and patient monitoring,
including recognising and responding to a deteriorating patient.
- Sound understanding of infection prevention, aseptic technique and instrument reprocessing.
- Medication administration and relevant pharmacology.
- Current CPR certification.
- Immunisation status meeting Victorian healthcare worker requirements.
- Australian work rights.
Desirable
- Experience with endoscope reprocessing systems / AERs.
- Sedation and post-anaesthetic recovery experience.
- Gastroenterology Nurses College of Australia (GENCA) membership.
- Experience in Iron Infusions, Liver scans and Pill Cam
Who actually fits here Our best people are calm under pressure, fastidious about infection control when nobody is watching, honest when something goes wrong, and kind to patients who are frightened and undignified. We are a small centre — there is nowhere to hide, and that suits people with nothing to hide.
We are looking for someone who wants to settle. If you are after a stepping stone for six months, this is not it. If you want to be part of a team for years, learn a specialty properly, and go home at a sensible hour every day, please apply.
What we offer
- Permanent employment (part-time or full-time), paid under the applicable nursing agreement, with all entitlements.
- Predictable, family-friendly daytime hours.
- Free on-site parking, close to public transport.
- Direct access to the clinical leadership team — decisions get made, not escalated into a void.
Only applicants with Australian work rights and current AHPRA registration can be considered.
