About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Metal Fabricator to join our team on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, welding, and finishing metal and structural steel components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Study engineering drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
- Select, measure and prepare structural steel and other metal stock for fabrication.
- Mark out dimensions, reference points, cut-outs and joints on metal stock using measuring instruments, templates and other tools.
- Cut metal sections and shapes using appropriate hand tools, cutting equipment and metal cutting machinery.
- Shape and bend metal sections and components using hand and machine tools.
- Fit, align and position metal components using measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Fabricate and assemble structural steel and other metal components in accordance with drawings and specifications.




- Join metal sections and components using welding, bolting and riveting techniques as required.
- Examine completed welds for quality, penetration, accuracy and consistency, and carry out repairs or rework where required.
- Grind, file, clean and smooth welds and fabricated components to achieve the required finish.
- Inspect completed fabricated components to ensure dimensions, alignment and workmanship meet project specifications.
- Use and maintain welding, cutting, grinding and other fabrication equipment safely and appropriately.
- Work with other tradespeople and team members to complete fabrication projects within required timeframes.

Skills and Experience

- Relevant trade qualification in Metal Fabrication, Engineering Fabrication, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Metal Fabricator.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Good welding, cutting, fitting, and fabrication skills.
- Ability to work accurately and safely with metal fabrication tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
