Sunshine Coast

An exciting opportunity has become available for emergency veterinarians to join a busy specialist veterinary hospital on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Full-time, part-time and casual opportunities are available for vets with a genuine interest in emergency and critical care who would like to continue developing their career within an experienced, supportive hospital team.

The emergency service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so applicants will need to be available across a roster that includes days, nights and weekends. Vets have access to dedicated emergency facilities and the equipment required to provide critical care treatment, along with support from an experienced team of specialists, residents, vets and nurses.

The hospital places a robust emphasis on the role emergency and critical care plays in delivering excellent patient care. The team is positive and close-knit, and the successful vet will be someone who enjoys working collaboratively and contributing to an inclusive workplace culture. Work-life balance is a priority, while career progression opportunities are also available for the right person.

Applicants must have a minimum of two years of full-time experience as a veterinarian. You will need to be comfortable prioritising and managing a busy emergency caseload, committed to delivering a high standard of patient care and able to work positively as part of a team.

Benefits include competitive hourly rates of pay, conference leave and a generous continuing education allowance. You will also have the support of specialists, residents and an experienced nursing team as you continue building your emergency and critical care skills.

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

Living and working on the Sunshine Coast offers the chance to combine a rewarding veterinary career with a relaxed coastal lifestyle. With beaches, coastal communities and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland all within the region, there are plenty of options for enjoying the outdoors and making the most of your time away from work.
