Medical Director – Hospital in the Home (HiTH)Staff Specialist | Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital | Permanent Part-Time 0.5 FTE$197,583 – $243,822 p.a. + Super | Opportunity to Increase FTE An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Medical Director / Senior Medical Specialist to lead the clinical direction and ongoing development of the Hospital in the Home (HiTH) Service at Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital.

This permanent part-time position offers 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week), with the possibility of increasing the FTE, providing an attractive opportunity for a specialist seeking a leadership role with flexibility.

You will provide strategic and clinical leadership across Hospital in the Home and Virtual Care, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, efficient and contemporary models of care within the home environment.
The Opportunity Working in partnership with the HiTH Service Manager, you will lead the clinical development of the service while providing senior medical oversight of its delivery, quality, safety and performance.
The role provides an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the future of hospital avoidance, post-acute care and virtual healthcare across the region.
Key responsibilities include:

- Provide clinical leadership and strategic direction for the HiTH service.
- Provide senior medical and clinical oversight of patient care delivered in the home and through Virtual Care.
- Lead the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of contemporary HiTH models of care.
- Work closely with the HiTH Service Manager and multidisciplinary teams to optimise service delivery.
- Provide clinical governance, quality and safety oversight.
- Monitor service performance, outcomes, efficiency and resource utilisation.
- Support effective clinical handover, supervision, teaching and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Provide admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth and on-call services as required.
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education and professional development.
- Participate in research, quality improvement and service evaluation.
- Build effective relationships with clinicians, managers and key internal and external stakeholders.

About You We are seeking a senior specialist with strong clinical leadership and service development experience who can combine clinical credibility with strategic thinking and collaborative leadership.
Essential Requirements

- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist in Medicine, Acute Care or another relevant specialty, and/or eligible via an applicable overseas-trained specialist pathway.
- Current and senior-level clinical experience in Hospital in the Home, post-acute care or a comparable service.
- Demonstrated experience in a Medical Director or senior medical leadership role.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, financial planning, performance management and organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated strategic leadership experience across acute or post-acute healthcare services.
- Ability to lead effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate models of service delivery.
- Experience coordinating services, allocating resources, negotiating with stakeholders and monitoring performance.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Ability to lead organisational and cultural change and inspire others around a shared vision.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, clinical risk management and patient safety.
- Demonstrated commitment to service improvement and the ability to proactively manage change and potential conflict.




- Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across medicine, nursing and allied health.
- Commitment to supervision, education and continuing professional development.
