About us:

Own Choice Homes is an established construction business based in Melbourne, Victoria, undertaking residential and commercial construction projects, including new builds, renovations, extensions, structural works and repairs. The company specialises in timber construction, framing, flooring, external works, and the installation of doors and windows.

The Role:

We are looking for Carpenter who can work within a dynamic and high performing environment.

Key duties will include but not limited to:

• Interpret construction drawings, plans and project specifications to establish dimensions, material requirements and the appropriate sequence of carpentry and installation activities for each building project.

• Measure, mark, cut and shape timber and other building materials using suitable hand and power tools, ensuring components are accurately prepared for structural and finishing applications.

• Construct and assemble timber framing and structural components, including wall frames, roof structures, floor joists and sub-flooring, while checking that completed sections are level, plumb, square and correctly aligned.

• Install and secure external building components, including roof sheathing, fascia, wall cladding,



and timber door and window frames, making necessary adjustments to achieve a proper fit and finish.

• Assemble and install timber fittings and prefabricated components, carrying out accurate joining, fastening and finishing work and modifying components where required to suit site conditions and project specifications.

• Undertake repairs, alterations and concrete formwork associated with carpentry works, including replacing damaged timber elements and constructing, supporting and dismantling temporary timber structures required for concrete construction.

Key Requirements:

• Certificate III in Carpentry or an equivalent recognised carpentry qualification.

• Practical experience in residential and/or commercial building construction.

• Demonstrated experience with timber framing and general carpentry activities.

• Experience using carpentry tools, machinery and equipment.

• Understanding of workplace health and safety practices applicable to construction sites.

• Ability to read plans, interpret measurements and follow construction

Specifications.

• Appropriate construction industry/site requirements and safety awareness.
