Towbar Discounts in Canberra is seeking a skilled and experienced Towbar Fitter to join our team at Canberra area and sorrounding region. This is a part-time position offering flexibility whilst maintaining the high standards our customers expect. As a Towbar Fitter, you will be responsible for the skilled installation, maintenance and repair of towbars and towing equipment on a variety of vehicles. This role is crucial to ensuring our customers receive safe, reliable towing solutions and represents a key part of our automotive services offering.
Key responsibilities
- Install towbars and associated towing equipment to vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards
- Perform thorough inspections of vehicles to assess towbar installation requirements and identify any structural or mechanical considerations
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on existing towbar installations, ensuring all components are functioning safely and effectively
- Test installed towbars and towing systems to verify proper operation and safety compliance
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including parts used and time spent on each job
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding installation timelines, costs and any issues identified during the fitting process
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
- Keep up to date with the latest towbar products, installation techniques and industry best practices
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Towbar Fitter or in a similar automotive fitting role within the trades and services industry
- Strong knowledge of towbar types, specifications and installation procedures for various vehicle makes and models
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment relevant to towbar installation and testing
- A solid understanding of vehicle mechanics and structural considerations affecting towbar installation
- Current driver's licence to operate customer vehicles during installation and testing procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach to service delivery
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced automotive environment
- Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in automotive work or mechanical fitting (desirable)
- Previous experience in an airport or secure facility environment (preferred)
