RETAIL & TRADE SALES REPRESENTATIVE - TRAINING PROVIDED

HD Pumps is a trusted supplier of pumps, water equipment and related products, dedicated to Making Water Work through quality products, practical advice and professional service.

We’re looking for a Retail & Trade Sales Representative to join our Winnellie team. This role would suit someone with experience in a trade, industrial or technical environment who enjoys working with customers, solving practical problems and developing strong working relationships.

Pump experience is highly regarded but not essential. We are willing to train the right person.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Helping customers solve their problems is at the core of this role.

Based at our Winnellie showroom, you’ll assist retail, trade and commercial customers at the counter, by phone and by email. You’ll listen carefully, ask the right questions and help customers identify products and practical solutions suited to what they are trying to achieve.

Day to day, you’ll handle sales enquiries, prepare quotes, process orders, pick products and help maintain a well-presented showroom. You’ll also follow up quotes and enquiries, maintain relationships with existing customers and reconnect with customers when operational workload allows.

You don’t need to arrive knowing everything about pumps. Training, supplier support and practical experience will help you develop your product knowledge and equipment-selection skills. As your capability grows, you’ll assist with more complex enquiries and project quotations under the direction of our Sales Manager.

This is a full-time position and includes rostered Saturday morning shifts, generally every second Saturday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Help retail, trade and commercial customers solve practical product, equipment and application problems.

- Handle counter, telephone and email sales enquiries.

- Establish customer requirements and recommend suitable products.

- Prepare accurate, professional quotes and follow them through to an outcome.

- Process quotes, sales orders and customer information accurately through MYOB Acumatica.

- Pick customer orders and assist with stock and warehouse activities when required.





- Develop product knowledge across pumps, water treatment, irrigation, pool equipment, pressure systems, pressure cleaners and related products.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with retail, trade and commercial customers.

- Follow up enquiries and quotes and reconnect with existing customers when workload allows.

- Maintain the Winnellie showroom and sales office to a high standard.

- Engage with suppliers regarding product information, technical support, order queries and stock availability.

- Manage cash and payment systems and balance the till as required.

ABOUT YOU

You enjoy working with customers and take satisfaction in understanding a problem and helping find a practical solution.

You don’t need to be a pump expert, but you will need some previous experience or exposure to a trade, industrial or technical environment. This may have been gained through sales, customer service, stores, workshop work or another hands-on role.

To be successful, you’ll have:

- Previous experience in a trade, industrial or technical environment.

- Previous experience in sales, retail, customer service or another customer-facing role.

- A willingness to learn and steadily develop technical product knowledge.

- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.

- The ability to listen, ask effective questions and understand what a customer is trying to achieve.

- Practical problem-solving ability and initiative.

- Good attention to detail and a reliable work ethic.

- Good verbal and written communication skills.

- Competent general computer skills.

- The willingness and ability to learn how to interpret product information, datasheets, drawings and specifications.

- The motivation to use quieter periods productively for product learning, quote follow-up and customer contact.





No formal technical qualification is required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

LICENCES REQUIRED

- Current Australian driver’s licence.

WELL REGARDED, BUT NOT ESSENTIAL

- Experience with pumps, water treatment, irrigation, pool and spa equipment, pressure systems, bores or related products.

- A trade, technical or industry qualification or background in plumbing, electrical, irrigation, mechanical fitting, water treatment or a related field.

- Experience reading pump curves or selecting equipment to meet a required duty point.

- Forklift licence, or willingness to obtain one.
