This centre is a high-quality early childhood centre in Brisbane’s north, providing education and care for children Monday-Friday. We believe a healthy, balanced range of meals and snacks is necessary for children to learn and develop within the early years.

The opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Chef/Cook to join our team on a permanent basis, working 5 days per week Monday-Friday.

About the role

You will be in charge of creating delicious meals, morning and afternoon teas with cultural influences from around the world. You will occasionally work alongside educators and children to share your passion and knowledge of healthy foods and a varied diet. The centre's vegetable garden provides some of the ingredients for use in the kitchen, as children and staff work together to grow and harvest the produce.

Key responsibilities

- Preparation of daily meals (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea) for children ranging in age from 15 months to school entry

- Meet all individual food requirements of specific children where required including children with allergies and dietary requirements

- Preparation of food for events / functions celebrated a couple of times per year





- Adhering to the nutrition policy and guidelines set by the centre

- Working in accordance with the food safety regulations for protected and clean handling of food products

- Be organised and use good time-management skills

- Ordering food and supplies from established suppliers

- Working closely with the Centre Manager regarding menu planning

- Adhering to food costings and kitchen budgets set out

- Ensuring a safe clean kitchen environment at all times

About you

- Commercial Cookery certificate would be a distinct advantage

- Food Safety Supervisors Certificate

- Current Blue Card (or willing to obtain)

- Minimum 2 years' experience in managing a kitchen

- Permanent resident of Australia (sponsorship not available)
