ABOUT THE POSITION
This position is responsible for providing active leadership to educators in the development, implementation and evaluation of a child-focused education and care curriculum, compliance, and procedures. This position requires exceptional organisation and leadership qualities to ensure the delivery of a high-quality early learning service:
1. Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs following approved frameworks, while leading staff, supporting child development, fostering family relationships, ensuring compliance, and collaborating with the community.
2. Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially.
3. Lead, mentor, and support staff within the room to ensure a cohesive team approach.
4.
Conduct regular observations and assessments of children’s development, maintaining accurate records and communicating progress to parents and caregivers.
5. Manage the day-to-day operations of the room, including compliance with health and safety standards and centre policies.
6. Engage with parents and caregivers to provide updates on their child’s progress and to discuss any concerns or special needs.
7. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
8. Work collaboratively with other room leaders and Service Management to contribute to the overall success of the centre.
9. Collaborate with other educators and staff to maintain a cohesive and effective team.
ABOUT YOU
Essential and desirable
1. A bachelor’s degree in early childhood teaching qualification, or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
2. Qualifications in the Montessori framework and previous experience in a Montessori work environment, ideally at an Early Childhood Teacher level.
3. Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA),
4. Strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards.
5. Ability to effectively lead and manage a diverse team of educators and foster a positive work environment.
6.
Knowledge in Health and Safety compliance and protocols to effectively promote and maintain a culture of childcare safety and wellbeing
7. A passion for working with children and a commitment to providing high-quality childcare, a positive, proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution, high levels of creativity, energy, and patience.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive and collaborative relationships with educators and parents, addressing their concerns and maintaining regular communication channels.
9. Commitment to continuous professional development and a desire to learn and grow
10. Current First Aid and CPR certificates, cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, child protection training, protected sleep training and a valid Working with Children Check.
Prerequisites
- A current Working with Children check (or willingness to obtain one).
- A National Police Clearance – no more than 6 months old (or willingness to obtain one).
