Love the complexity of Employee Relations and Industrial Relations? This is a hands-on P&C; Business Partner opportunity supporting a large, operational workforce across a diverse portfolio of client sites throughout VIC/TAS.

The Opportunity
WorkTrybe is partnering with a leading Australian protective services organisation to appoint an experienced People & Culture Business Partner supporting its VIC/TAS operations.

If you genuinely enjoy Employee Relations and Industrial Relations, this is the kind of role where you can put that experience to work every day.

You’ll partner closely with operational leaders supporting a large, geographically dispersed and shift-based workforce servicing a diverse portfolio of clients.

This isn’t a purely corporate HR role. You’ll be close to operations, building relationships with leaders, understanding what’s happening on the ground and providing practical, commercially sound people advice in a 24/7 rapid-moving environment.

You’ll join an established national P&C; function and report to an experienced, supportive and solutions-focused P&C; leader who will give you the autonomy to own your portfolio while providing strong support when the complex matters land.

Why this role stands out

- ER/IR exposure – manage a broad range of employee relations matters including investigations, complaints, performance, disciplinary processes and case management
- Operational business partnering – work directly with leaders responsible for frontline teams across multiple client sites
- Industrial environment – apply your knowledge of awards, enterprise agreements, unions and shift-based workforces

- Variety – the diversity of client environments means no two days or people matters are quite the same
- Strong P&C; leadership – join an experienced national team with a practical, collaborative approach
- Scale and stability – work within a major national services organisation employing thousands of people across Australia and are genuine leaders bridging people & technology solutions
- Great new offices – based in Port Melbourne, with five days onsite in the heart of the action
- Competitive package – depending on experience

What you’ll be doing
You’ll own the P&C; relationship with a portfolio of operational leaders, becoming their trusted adviser on everything from day-to-day people matters

Your responsibilities will include:

- Coaching and advising operational leaders on employee and industrial relations matters
- Managing workplace investigations, grievances, complaints and disciplinary processes
- Supporting performance management and employee matters from start to resolution
- Interpreting and applying awards, enterprise agreements, policies and employment legislation
- Supporting leaders across a large, shift-based and operational workforce
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple client environments
- Contributing to national P&C; initiatives, projects and continuous improvement

- Maintaining robust people data and HRIS practices, with Workday experience highly regarded

About you
You’ll suit this role if you’re the type of HR professional who would rather be close to the operation solving real people issues than sitting in a purely corporate or strategic HR environment.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

- 3+ years’ experience in an HR/P&C; generalist or Business Partner role
- Strong hands-on Employee Relations and Industrial Relations experience
- Confidence managing investigations, complaints and disciplinary matters
- Experience working with awards, enterprise agreements, unions and/or highly regulated workforces
- Exposure to a large frontline, shift-based blue collar and geographically dispersed employee population
- A practical, calm and credible approach when dealing with challenging situations
- The confidence to challenge and coach operational leaders while maintaining strong relationships
- The ability to move comfortably between strategic conversations and hands-on case management
- An HR or related qualification

Security industry experience would be particularly attractive. We’d also love to hear from P&C; professionals coming from similarly operational environments such as protective services, facilities management, aviation, transport, logistics, labour hire, cleaning or other large frontline workforces.

If you know the realities of supporting a 24/7 operational workforce – and this sounds like YOU – this could be a great next move.
Please note:
Background checks will be completed for the successful applicant. Full Australian working rights are required.
