About the role

Ainoya Japanese Restaurant is seeking an enthusiastic and professional Waitress/Waiter to join our hospitality team in Kirribilli NSW 2061. This is a part-time position offering flexible hours to suit your availability. As a Waitress/Waiter, you will be the face of our restaurant, delivering exceptional service to our guests whilst ensuring their dining experience is memorable and enjoyable. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for outstanding hospitality and authentic Japanese cuisine service.

What you'll be doing

- Greeting guests warmly upon arrival and seating them according to restaurant procedures

- Taking accurate food and beverage orders from customers and communicating them clearly to the kitchen and bar teams

- Providing knowledgeable recommendations about menu items, specialities and beverages, particularly our Japanese offerings

- Serving food and drinks promptly and professionally, ensuring correct items are delivered to the right guests

- Clearing tables efficiently and maintaining a clean, organised dining workplace throughout service

- Processing payments and managing transactions at the till, including handling cash and card payments

- Responding to guest queries and complaints with professionalism and tact, escalating issues to management when necessary

- Collaborating with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service flow during busy periods

- Maintaining high standards of personal presentation and hygiene at all times

- Following health and safety regulations and restaurant policies consistently

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working as a Waitress/Waiter in a restaurant or hospitality venue, preferably in a fine dining or Japanese restaurant setting

- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently and courteously with diverse guests

- Excellent customer service orientation with a genuine passion for delivering exceptional experiences

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times whilst maintaining composure





- Good memory and attention to detail, particularly when managing multiple table orders

- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and move around the restaurant environment

- Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to work evening and weekend shifts

- Teamwork mentality with a willingness to support colleagues and contribute to a positive workplace culture

- Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and dining customs is desirable but not essential

- Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification or willingness to obtain it
