About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable Civil Engineering Technician to provide technical support across civil construction, land subdivision, earthworks and site development projects throughout Western Australia. Working closely with project engineers, surveyors, site supervisors, subcontractors and other project stakeholders, the successful candidate will assist with site measurements and setout, interpretation of engineering drawings, construction verification, field testing, technical calculations, quality documentation and construction compliance activities. The role involves a combination of site-based and office-based technical work, supporting the delivery of civil works in accordance with approved engineering designs, specifications, survey information, project requirements and applicable Australian standards.

Key responsibilities

- Provide technical support for civil construction and site development projects, including earthworks, site preparation, residential subdivision, drainage, roadworks and building pad construction.

- Assist with site setout, level checks, gradient verification, measurements and dimensional inspections to verify that construction works are consistent with engineering drawings, survey information, design levels and project specifications.

- Read, interpret and review civil engineering drawings, plans, specifications and construction documentation for site implementation, identifying discrepancies and assisting engineering and site personnel with technical clarification.

- Conduct routine technical inspections of earthworks, drainage and associated civil construction activities, recording site conditions and verifying completed works against approved drawings, specifications and required standards.

- Assist with field testing and verification of construction materials,



soils and earthworks, including recording test results, analysing relevant data and reporting potential non-conformances against project specifications and applicable Australian Standards.

- Collect, analyse and interpret site, survey, measurement and testing data and undertake technical calculations relating to levels, gradients, quantities, dimensions and other civil construction requirements.

- Assist with survey and site measurement activities, including level checks, alignment checks, construction measurements and basic setout activities under relevant project requirements.

- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including inspection records, site data, test records, technical reports, checklists, schedules, as-built information and construction compliance records.

- Liaise with project engineers, surveyors, site supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to communicate technical information, coordinate site requirements and assist in resolving construction-related technical issues.

- Identify construction defects, discrepancies and non-conformances, document relevant findings, monitor rectification works and assist with final technical inspections and completion documentation.

About you

- Certificate IV, Diploma or higher qualification in Civil Engineering, Civil Construction, Engineering Technology or a closely related discipline.





- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in civil construction, civil engineering technical support, subdivision, earthworks or related site-based civil works.

- Practical understanding of civil construction processes, including earthworks, site preparation, drainage, levelling, grading and building pad formation.

- Ability to read, interpret and work from civil engineering drawings, survey plans, specifications and technical documentation.

- Practical knowledge of site measurement, levelling, construction verification and basic survey setout activities.

- Understanding of construction materials, soil testing, field testing and quality verification processes.

- Knowledge of applicable Australian Standards, civil construction requirements and relevant Western Australian project requirements.

- Ability to undertake basic technical calculations and analyse site, survey, testing and construction data.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to prepare accurate technical records, reports and project documentation.

- Valid White Card and willingness to work across WA civil construction sites.
