About the role

Gateway Milling is seeking a keen and experienced Trades Assistant to join our feed mill maintenance team. In this hands-on role you will be responsible for planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across a range of feed mill equipment and production machinery. Our feed mill operates 5 days per week, 24 hours per day.

Key responsibilities
Assist qualified tradespeople with the setup, maintenance, and operation of tools and equipment
Support the preparation of work areas and materials for various engineering and manufacturing tasks
Follow health and safety protocols and procedures at all times
Assist with the assembly, fabrication, and installation of components under supervision
Maintain a clean and organised work workplace
Support quality control checks and inspections
Assist with loading and unloading of materials and finished products
Learn and develop practical trade skills through on-the-job training
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

About you




Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour tasks
Strong attention to detail and commitment to health and safety
Reliability, punctuality, and a solid work ethic
Ability to take direction and work well as part of a team
Basic numeracy and literacy skills
Flexibility to adapt to different tasks and work environments
A valid Australian Drivers Licence (preferred)
Relevant trade-related qualifications or certificates (preferred)
Previous experience in manufacturing, construction, or engineering (preferred)
