Assistant Grappling Coach – Wrestling & BJJ

Highlands Sports Centre is looking for an energetic and reliable Assistant Grappling Coach to join our growing team in Braemar, Southern Highlands. We are looking for someone with a background in Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Judo, MMA or another relevant grappling discipline who enjoys working with children and wants to develop as a coach.

The role will primarily support our afternoon kids’ Wrestling and BJJ programs. You will work alongside our experienced coaches and gradually take greater responsibility as your confidence and coaching skills develop.

Key responsibilities:
Assist with Wrestling and BJJ classes for children aged 3–13
Help demonstrate basic grappling movements and exercises
Organise games, warm-ups and physical development activities
Help manage groups and keep children engaged
Prepare the training area before classes and assist between sessions
Maintain a protected, positive and welcoming training environment
Support special events, camps and other HSC activities when required

We are looking for someone who:
Has practical experience in Wrestling, BJJ, Judo,



MMA or grappling Is confident and comfortable working with children Is reliable, energetic and willing to learn
Communicates well with coaches, children and parents
Can work as part of a team Is interested in developing their coaching skills
Previous skilled coaching experience is helpful but not essential.
An athlete or grappler who wants to move into coaching is encouraged to apply.

Training and support will be provided. A Working With Children Check will be required. The initial role is approximately 9–12 hours per week, primarily weekday afternoons, with the opportunity for additional coaching hours as our programs continue to grow.

Highlands Sports Centre is a dedicated grappling and physical development centre offering Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and other programs for children and adults.
