Role Description The Workshop Manager is a full-time, in office role based in Sydney, NSW, responsible for overseeing day-to-day workshop operations and ensuring high-quality service delivery. This role manages technician workloads, schedules repairs and services, and monitors workflow to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
The Workshop
Manager coordinates diagnostics and maintenance activities, verifies quality of completed work, and ensures tools, equipment and diagnostic systems are maintained and used safely. They handle customer communication regarding service recommendations, timelines and costs, support quoting and invoicing processes, and liaise with suppliers for parts and materials. The role also involves leading and mentoring the workshop team, promoting safety and compliance,
and contributing to continuous improvement in efficiency and customer experience.
Qualifications
Solid automotive technical knowledge, ideally with experience in European vehicles (e.g., BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, MINI, Land Rover).
Proficiency in workshop management, including scheduling, workload planning, and coordinating diagnostics and repair activities.
Strong leadership skills with experience supervising technicians, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative team workplace.
Customer service and communication skills to explain technical issues clearly, manage expectations, and build long-term client relationships.
Ability to use diagnostic tools, workshop management software, and basic computer applications for reporting and documentation.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards and compliance within an automotive workshop setting.
Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Technology or equivalent) and prior experience in a workshop leadership or senior technician role.
Valid driver’s license and the ability to work in office full time in Sydney, NSW.
