Pastry Chef | Kangaroo Island, SAAbout the RoleSouthern Ocean Lodge is seeking a full time Pastry Chef to join our kitchen team and bring creativity and precision to every sweet element of the guest experience.Working alongside the Executive Chef and wider kitchen team, you will produce desserts, petit fours, breads and pastries for an all inclusive dining program that showcases the very best of Kangaroo Island produce.
This is a rare opportunity to work in a small, considered kitchen where quality always comes before volume.This is a residential role based on Kangaroo Island, with accommodation and meals provided.Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and presenting all pastry, dessert and bakery items for daily service
Producing fresh breads, morning pastries and afternoon tea offerings
Contributing ideas to seasonal menu development alongside the Executive Chef
Sourcing and showcasing local Kangaroo Island produce wherever possible
Maintaining exceptional standards of presentation and consistency
Managing pastry section stock, ordering and wastage
Adhering to all food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements
Supporting the wider kitchen team during service periods as required
About YouYou are a passionate and experienced Pastry Chef who takes genuine pride in your craft and enjoys the creative freedom that comes with a small luxury property.You will ideally have:
Formal pastry qualifications or equivalent trade experience




Experience in a fine dining, luxury lodge or premium hotel kitchen
Strong technical skills across desserts, breads and viennoiserie
A creative approach to plating and seasonal menu design
Excellent attention to detail and consistency under pressure
Willingness to live and work on Kangaroo Island in a residential setting
Ability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
Current Australian working rights
