Based at our Broadmeadows depot, you'll play a hands-on part in ensuring the reliability and performance of our electrical distribution network.
Every day brings something different from testing and commissioning protection and control systems to maintaining and troubleshooting high-voltage underground cables, relays, and field devices.Your expertise will help keep our network protected, efficient, and ready to meet the energy needs of thousands of customers.
Key Responsibilities includePerform diagnostic testing and maintenance services on a wide variety of electrical protection and control relays and equipmentAnalyse and troubleshoot protection system faults and malfunctions to identify root causes and recommend corrective actionsConduct repairs & maintenance on field distribution ground and pole top devices.Participate in the commissioning of new protection and control equipment,
ensuring that it meets design specifications and regulatory requirementsVerify the integration of protection devices with overall power system infrastructureGenerate detailed reports documenting the performance of protection and control systemsCoordinate testing activities with internal and external customersPrepare work records and reports as required, including input into databases and work hours / daily work recordsAdhere to safety guidelines and protocols while working with high-voltage equipmentEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to protection and control systemsBe willing to go onto and work an on-call availability roster.About YouThe successful candidate is required to display a positive customer and team focus, work effectively, participate in identifying workplace change or productivity improvements, as well as the following skills and attributes:Possess an Advanced Diploma of ESI – Power Systems or an equivalent qualificationStrong technical knowledge and experience working across power systems related secondary, primary and distribution equipment.Proficiency in using relay testing equipment such as power system simulators, as well as primary test equipment.Experience in analysing and solving technical information, including fault finding in relation to both the maintenance and commissioning of secondary,
primary and distribution systems.Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information to non-technical stakeholdersExercise decisiveness in ensuring network security and public safetyAbility to compare information from different sources to draw conclusions, and select an appropriate course of actionWe are a champion of equal opportunity employment and have committed to targets for gender equity and first nations representation in our workforce.
