Malaysia 26K3 international branch campuses in AustraliaOVERVIEW The Manager, Casework Team position with the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions is based in Melbourne and supports the delivery of welfare services for international students studying in Victoria.
This full-time fixed-term role sits within the Study Melbourne team and focuses on leading casework operations, supervising staff, and ensuring high-quality, client-centred support services.
The role is suited to a qualified social worker or candidate with a related qualification who can manage service delivery, stakeholder relationships, and continuous improvement initiatives.Key responsibilitiesLead the day-to-day operation of the casework serviceOversee intake, assessment, case planning, case allocation and case management systemsEnsure delivery of high-quality, client-centred support servicesProvide culturally responsive leadership and direct supervision to four caseworkersManage risk and casework processesDrive ongoing development and improvement of policies, procedures, systems and service delivery practicesEngage with stakeholders and promote servicesConduct data analysis and contribute to projects and initiatives supporting Study Melbourne strategic goalsProvide leadership in adapting and applying concepts to operational matters within the local work areaManage a discrete function with limited budget or staffKey responsibilitiesProvide specialist skilled services or adviceUse innovative thinking and analysis to influence developments within the area of responsibilityBuild and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including peer and senior stakeholdersSupport innovation, continuous improvement and effective service delivery within the teamRequirementsRelevant tertiary degree in Social Work or another related disciplineMandatory qualification as outlined in the position descriptionDemonstrated experience managing people and leading teamsExperience holding teams accountable to public sector values and agreed performance standardsAbility to anticipate and resolve issues to achieve outcomesStrong innovation and continuous improvement skillsAbility to review and analyse information to improve effectiveness and quality of workExperience fostering a team environment that encourages innovation and creativityDemonstrated resilience and sound project delivery capabilityExperience leading casework or social services teamsExperience managing service improvement initiativesExperience working with stakeholdersSuccessful completion of a National Police Records Check prior to commencementWHY THIS ROLE MATTERSThis role contributes to the wellbeing and support of international students living, working and studying in Victoria.
